Increased competition within a single state would be great, but competition across state lines would be even better. If folks in New York could get their health insurance from Kentucky, New Mexico, Texas, or wherever, greater competition would result. 50 insurers within one state would be great, but I don't think that's going to happen -- certainly not in the near term. Removing obstacles to getting health insurance across state lines would open up competition almost immediately.
